The Mohammed bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity (the Global Prosperity Initiative), has recently launched its next edition of the Global Maker Challenge and is calling on entrepreneurs and startups to partake in a global competition that is aimed at solving some of the world’s most critical developmental challenges.

The four themes for the challenges have been identified in partnership with ten United Nations (UN) agencies and MIT University. Participants will have the opportunity to win up to USD $1 million in cash prizes, mentorship support, and access to global organisations including SAP, AIRBUS, Honeywell and Robotics Hub.  In addition, we will ensure your startups are connected with over 60+ incubators, accelerators, and corporate innovation partners.

The four themes are:

  • Climate Change
  • Sustainable & Healthy Food for All
  • Innovation for Inclusive Trade
  • Innovation for Peace and Justice

With an easy registration process, startups can participate at no cost. Deadline for submission is by 31 January 2020. However, we strongly recommend registering by the end of December to allow time for our registration team to reach out in case they require any clarification on the entries.

The Global Prosperity Initiative, in coordination with MIT Solve, is setting up a panel of high-profile judges which will be made up of global innovation experts from a range of UN agencies and organisations, global companies, NGOs, business accelerators, incubators, and academics. After an in-depth review 16 finalists, four per challenge, will be selected based on the potential of their solutions to have the biggest socio-economic impact and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 16 finalists will be invited to showcase their solutions at the Pitch Event which will take place on 22 April 2020 in Hannover, Germany, alongside Hannover Messe, one of the world’s largest industrial technology trade fairs. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered by the Mohammed bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity in full. The four winners, one per theme, will be awarded US$100,000, whilst the twelve runners-up, will be awarded US$10,000 each. In addition, each winner will gain valuable recognition, global exposure, and mentorship from established global organisations, taking the total value of the prize to US$1 million.

We’d love to hear about your innovative solution and support you in deploying it on a global scale.
