Initial selection A team from CURAD and Swisscontact will conduct an initial selection process, based on the application criteria. The applicants who will go through this stage will be subject to a panel assessment.
Assessment and selection Each application will be scored by an independent team of experts from the private and public sectors. The assessment and selection process will be based on (1) innovation; (2) competitiveness of the idea or business case; (3) depth of understanding of the business environment; (4) responsiveness to perceived gaps in the market; (5) projected number of jobs to be created; and (6) justification for technical or financial support to make the business start-up or expansion possible. At this stage, 90 applicants will be shortlisted as finalists who will receive a full business training package and are potential winners of the grand prizes. The finalists will be notified via email, telephone, newspapers and websites.
Judging event The 90 shortlisted applicants (10 best applicants per category or sector) will then face a panel of judges, who will select the overall winner, category winners, 2nd and 3rd runners-up. The pitching will be done in English or local languages. The final decision regarding the winners in each of the categories will be announced at the Final Gala Event.
