About CURAD
The Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD) is an innovative public-private agribusiness incubator established by Makerere University, NUCAFE, and NARO. CURAD is implementing the Strengthening Agribusiness Youth Employment (SAYE) Project in partnership with Heifer International and Mastercard Foundation. The project aims to enhance the socio-economic well-being of 250,000 youth in Uganda’s Busoga sub-region by 2029, with a focus on youth skilling, incubation, job creation, access to finance, and market linkages.

Job Purpose
The M&E Associate will support the effective implementation of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) framework. The role will involve tracking outputs and outcomes, managing project data, ensuring quality reporting, supporting learning processes, and providing timely evidence for decision-making and donor reporting.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

    • Support the design and implementation of M&E systems, tools, and data collection instruments.
    • Collect, clean, and validate project data (quantitative and qualitative) from field activities.
    • Enter and manage data in the SAYE MIS and CURAD’s MEL database.
    • Track project indicators, targets, and outputs against the approved results framework.
    • Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites, document findings, and share feedback with teams.
    • Support compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative and statistical reports.
    • Participate in outcome surveys, tracer studies, and baseline/endline assessments.
    • Generate field case studies, success stories, and lessons learned for donor reports and communication.
    • Work closely with Community Facilitators, District Officials, and project staff to ensure data quality.
    • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, gender, and inclusivity targets (70% women, 3% PWD).
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the M&E Officer and Project Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, Project Management, or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in M&E, preferably in NGO, agribusiness, or youth employment projects.
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in M&E is an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of data collection tools, research methods, and results-based management.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, SPSS/STATA, Power BI, Python, R or other data analysis software.
  • Experience with digital data collection platforms (ODK, Kobo, SurveyCTO, Kenga, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with youth, communities, and local governments.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the Busoga sub-region.
