Academic qualifications and work profile: Born 18th January 1958, Kyamanywa obtained a B. Sc. Agriculture (Honours: Second class Upper division) Makerere University in 1980, and Ph.D (Agricultural Entomology) degree of Makerere University in1987 under the African Regional Post graduate Programme in Insect Science (ARPPIS) at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) – Nairobi Kenya.

Mr. Joseph Nkandu

CURAD's Founding Entrepreneur and First Managing Director, Mr. Joseph Nkandu. Joseph is the Executive Director of NUCAFE. He is an Agribusisiness Practitioner, a coffee farmer and broadly a social entrepreneur. He holds a BSc in Agriculture, an MBA and is currently a PhD scholar in Business Administration specialising in Entrepreneurship. Joseph is a specialist in agricultural value chain development, development of farmer organisations into lucrative businesses, export marketing, agribusiness incubation services and partnership building.

Jackie Bonabana-Wabbi, PhD

Jackline Bonabana-Wabbi is a Lecturer and Postgraduate Programmes Coordinator in the Department of Agribusiness and Natural Resource Economics in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Makerere University. She holds a PhD in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.

Her current teaching load includes business economics and macroeconomics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has held various administrative positions in the University including Chairperson, Research and Publications Committee, Department of Agribusiness and Natural Resource Economics, Member, School Research and Higher Degrees Committee, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, including the current position of Coordinator Postgraduate Programmes in the Department.

Nuwagaba Deus

Deus is currently the acting clients development officer with the Consortium for enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD) and an Entrepreneurship Services Manager with the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises (NUCAFE). He is passionate entrepreneur who has devoted time and effort to work with a team of professionals from Makerere University, NUCAFE and the National Agricultural Research Organization to support the upbringing of the Consortium for enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD) as a fully fledged institution. Deus is a trained Agricultural Economist from Makerere University and an Entrepreneurial coffee farmer who has lived to inspire youth and farmers through enhancing their entrepreneurship to take advantage of opportunities in the coffee value chain as businesses.

David Muwonge

David Muwonge is a distinguished coffee expert and practitioner with a BSc Agriculture (Economics option), an International Coffee Diploma, a DANIDA fellowship for agricultural Innovation and Entrepreneurship,  an International trade centre (ITC- which is a United nations agency of the WTO & UNCTAD) certified Export Management Development expert and Financial counsellor.

Mr. Muwonge has, over 10 years coffee experience, he is a star cupper, a coffee farmer and has a strong passion for coffee and enthusiasm for empowering fellow farmers.

Mr.  Muwonge believes the only thing constant in the coffee industry is “change” and as such change should be embraced with appropriate innovations developed with the same passion as the re-vitalizing experience of a well brewed aromatic cup of the finest coffee commercialised and sustained by strong entrepreneurship.

Through various consulting assignments he has provided expert knowledge, provided advisory, mentoring and coaching services at various levels of the coffee value chain.
